What People Say

Most Liked

The star of the menu is undeniably the fish sandwich; its huge portions and generous toppings leave patrons satisfied and eager for more. The homemade coleslaw complements the meal perfectly, providing a refreshing crunch. Customers love the fast service without compromising the quality of freshly cooked meals. The casual and quiet atmosphere creates an ideal setting for enjoying delicious comfort food with family or friends. Furthermore, the outdoor seating and picnic table setup invite diners to relish their meals in the sunshine. Locals cherish this restaurant not just for the food but also for the strong sense of community it fosters. Bantam Chef is where stories, laughter, and meals are shared, creating lasting memories.

Most Disliked

While most people adore Bantam Chef, some concerned diners mention the wait time during peak lunch hours; with meals cooked to order, many find it can take longer than expected. The sandwich's size might be daunting for some, leading to concerns over portion control. Additionally, a few customers seek more variety in beverage options, as the drink selection remains limited. The historical charm can also lead to less-than-modern facilities, which some find lacking in amenities. Parking can fill up quickly during busy hours, making it a challenge for larger groups or families with kids to find adequate space. These minor drawbacks don't overshadow the overall experience, but they are worth considering for potential visitors.

We drove from Orlando area just to try the famous fish sandwich. It did not disappoint. A huge fish portion loaded with toppings on a big roll. The fries and slaw were tasty as well. Really good food, friendly service. Your food is cooked to order, but so worth the wait!!!

OMG!!!! I have never in my life had such a huge, delicious fish sandwich! It was amazing!!! I saw Bantam Chef on the Hughleys reel on FB and decided I need to try for my self!! I could not fit a bite of the top to bottom of the sandwich in my mouth. We will be back for another one soon!!!

I am lucky enough to have a construction project going on with them 500 feet of this amazing place in. I’m having lunch to you today and it is far superior to any other places, I could’ve stopped to have lunch. I had their famous fish sandwich and I’m loving it. They have the perfect size skinny fries, perfect homemade coleslaw, and a fish sandwich that likely has an entire fish and his best friend brought up in perfect size pieces and stacked as high as they possibly could before it falls over. I cannot recommend this place enough and my words do not do it justice, you will just have to come on over and try it out yourself. Excellent job everyone! See you again soon.

Located in the heart of Bunnell, in an unassuming location, disguised as a shack, lies the best fish sandwich in all of the South. I’ve been going to this place for 20 years. It is the best fish sandwich you’ll ever have! It used to say Flounder, now it says fish so idk what fish they changed it to but it’s still amazing and huge. You can eat layers of fish off and still have a big fat fish sandwich. For this reason, I recommend extra, extra tartar sauce. They also have great iced tea. Perfect southern meal served on a porch with a pond view.

The sandwich was excellent. Very large portion. Old school Florida no frills road side shack. Good prices. Recommended.

Definitely worth the two hours it took me to get there. Hot, fresh and so much fabulous flavor. It’s a busy little place but the people are friendly, so come and try their food.

Rolled through on my way to the gardens in Hastings and stumbled on Bantam Chef out of hunger. Ended up with the biggest fish sandwich I’ve ever had — juicy, delicious, and out fast. Pleasantly surprised and definitely worth the stop 👌👍
